Gaddafi's Exit

Why must a country's leader leave his country of birth and go into exile? This shows that the West can make and unmake you. They are now fed up with Gaddafi, so he must go. Why is it that they are not reporting the atrocities being committed by the Libyan rebells? This is a clear case of a carrot and stick situation. Now all the western powers are bent on ensuring that Gaddafi is kicked out. They are talking about he accepting an exit from Libya. Gaddafi as usual is very defiant and he has vowed not to leave Libya. I know the same thing will be done to whoever is installed as the new Libyan president. He will be manipulated by the west and they will get easy access to the oil and gas resources. Why is it that the  Yemeni president is not being presurised by the west to leave his country. They are careful in some countries where they support the leadership and will do everything not to jeopardise that cordial friendship. Peaceful protesters are being killed in the Yemeni capital and all that the western powers could do was to evacuate their embassy staff and non essential workforce. Why dont they impose a no- fly zone over Yemen, Bahrain and Syria. I keep on asking myself, is this the case of George Orwell's Animal Farm, where some animals are seen to be better than others? The moment Gaddafi leaves Libya, the west will do everything possible to fast track his extradition to the International Criminal Court in the Hague. The AU has also joined the bandwagon for Gaddafi's exit from Libya, his country of birth. Meanwhile he was seen as a major financier of the continental body, why are they now disowning him, is he not an African? The current African leaders should be wary of Greeks bearing gifts otherwise the same fate befalling Gaddafi currently will befall them in the near future.

Tomorrow, 25th May is African Union Day and the African political elite are goin to celebrate the day with pomp and pageantry all over the continent by popping champagne and attending seminars where they only indulge in talkshops. Most Africans on the continent still cant acess education, clean water, uninterrupted electricity and we are still faced with the problem of bad governance on our continent. We call ourselves a Union, but i dont think we are united on this dear continent of ours. We still cant trade amongst ourselves and also the movement of people from one country to the other is nothing good to write home about. One would be frustrated if he or she is to travel from Ghana to Nigeria. A lot of bad things are going on at our border posts where those who are supposed to ensure the safe movement of people and goods, rather resort to extortion and if you dont part with an amount of money at the border post, you will be denied entry into the other country. Smuggling of goods are also rife at the borders with the connivance of the security agencies stationed there.
Africa still does not have a standing army in case a conflict arises in any part of the continent. A typical example was what happened recently in the Ivory Coast. If not for the French and UN troops who used military force to kick out Laurent Gbagbo, the Ivorain crisis would not have been resolved. The crisis in Libya is also another issue where the African Union seems to have lost its voice completely.
I will like to ask our African political leaders if the AU is still relevant and what are we celebrating?

The IMF boss,  was it a conspiracy? They knew that he had a weakness for women and they used it against him. This was because he could not resist this beautiful African woman who i think might have seduced him. Now it would be difficult for him to contest the French presidential elections as the damage that has been caused is irrepairable.   Even if he should be nominated by his party, this damaging allegation would be used against him by the French electorate. Incumbent governments will always do everything to keep their opponents at bay. I hope potential technocrats who are aspiring to contest for political positions in their countries in future.
